Despite the trek to Memphis and back over the weekend, I was able to keep up with some things--such as the Vols game against Notre Dame and this afternoon's latest debacle disguised as a Titans game. (Seriously, can we get rid of Pacman yet?)
But if you're a football fan, there's been one story dominating the headlines this weekend--the situation surrounding Terrell Owens in Philadelphia.
Now, before I launch into this, let me say that I have T.O. on my fantasy team. Just bear that in mind as I say all of this.
To the Eagles--about damn time you did something about T.O. This guy is the polar opposite of everything team stands for and is. Sure, he's got some great stats and he can make some big plays. But is it worth it to have such a distraction in your locker room? I was finally glad to see the Eagles stand up and say--you know what, T.O.? Enough is enough. We may not win as much without you, but the price of your being one of us is just too big. So, go sit down and shut up for a while.
I have to say this--I applaud the Eagles for doing this. And not just because all this media circus has occurred in the week they play my beloved Redskins on Sunday Night Football on ESPN. But hey, any advantage my team can get is one we'll need, so I'm not complaining.
And Daniel Snyder---I heard it rumored you might be interested in T.O. Please, Dan, let's not go there. I forgave you for Spurrier, but you bring T.O. in and I might have to start rethinking my lifelong loyalty to the Redskins. Were it not for the fact that we had Joe Gibbs as coach, a man who knows character counts on and off the field, I'd be a bit more worried about this rumor...
