I'm not quite sure when this meme goes "live" but I figured better late than never... the use of corsets I'm a big fan of old radio shows, espeically the comedies. One of my favorites is called The Great Gildersleeve. It was the first spin-off in radio-history and showed you could spin-off popular characters to their own shows, so we have it to thank for Joanie Loves Chachi. The main character was Throckmorton P. Gidersleeve. He started life on the Fibber McGee and Molly show where he owned the Gildersleeve Girdle Company. In the first Gildersleeve ep, Gildy has a line to his workers that goes, "If you want the best in corsets, of course its Gildersleeve." There was also the classic mis-understanding routine later in the story as Gildy meets his nephew Leroy for the first time. Leroy thinks his uncle runs the Gildersleeve Girder Company and hilarity ensues when there is talk of being there to install foundations. I know, long way around the barn, but it's what I think of. Star Wars, the movie I assume we're talking about the original 1977 movie or as it's commonly called today A New Hope (in my mind it will always be just plain old Star Wars). I grew up loving it. I had a ton of Star Wars action figures growing up and I made up all kinds of adventures for them on my swing-set and in the red-dirt ditch they dug outside our house in Hawaii. My first set of action figures were C3-PO and R2D2, which I made sure those were Davis's first ever Star Wars action figures from his Uncle Michael. I remember having the Storybook that had pictures from the film and the story in it and I also had the record of the storyline where R2 would beep to turn the page. I love Star Wars and even though the prequels haven't been quite as great as the original trilogy, I still enjoyed them. the possibility of a bird flu epidemic It's flu shot time! actor Kelsey Grammer ("Frasier") Interesting to hear him compared to old-time radio comedian Jack Benny. I can see the comparison between the two and how they're made. Also, Grammar is just cool as the voice of Sideshow Bob on The Simpsons Horror fiction Stephen King. And on some level Laurell K. Hamilton's Anita Blake novels.
