A couple of years ago, the Tennessee Titans had the chance to draft Randy Moss in the NFL draft. Thankfully, the Titans showed they are an organization that puts class and character above just pure on-field talent and they passed on Moss.
Best...decision...EVER!
As was evidenced yesterday by his latest antic.
Here's a recap from USA Today for those of you who missed it.
Moss' antics only added to the weirdness of this win. A week ago, when he walked off the field before the end of yet another loss, even teammates expressed anger and concern about his attitude. Sunday, after catching a 34-yard touchdown pass early in the fourth quarter that stretched the lead back to 14 points, Moss aimed his backside at the crowd and began a celebration that Fox announcer Joe Buck said was "disgusting."
He and Moss don't agree on this. "Just having fun, that's all," Moss said. "Basically, what I was doing was pretending to moon the crowd and then bump the goalpost with my butt."
But yet his team and his coach will support him. "Oh, it's just Randy being Randy," we heard all last week. Moss isn't ashamed--he's proud of the fact that he's not a team player, has no character and takes plays off. You know, the Titans may not be in the playoffs this year, but at least you could say they had a team with men of character who would not do resort to such cheap tactics to taunt the other fan's crowd or get attention on themselves. If the price of going to the playoffs is having Randy Moss on your team, that price tag is too high.
I hope the leagues fines him or better yet--suspend him for the rest of the playoffs.
But I doubt they will.
Because of this, I am now pulling for Philly to beat the stuffing out of the Vikings this weekend.
