Earlier this week, I lamented the pedestrian state of men's basketball at Tennessee. I also admitted it was hard for to get too worked up over the men's team since they always crushed my hopes spectacularily.
And just as I think I can dimiss them, they go and
pull an upset over a top 20 opponent at home last night.
I hadn't intended to watch or listen. But I was stuck in a huge traffic jam when a jack-knifed semi shutdown I-24 here in Nashville. And since it was either Vandy basketball (who cares?), listening to one of the sports call in hosts not talk about sports but which dog he should buy (who really cares?!?) or the Vols play, I went with the Vols. (I did get home in time to see the 2nd half).
And lo and behold, the Vols won. Mississippi State made it interesting at the end, but we still got a win.
So, for now, I'm back on the bandwagon. I'm not even thinking NCAA tournament yet. Heck, I'm not even thinking post-season (where we haven't done diddly since that game against North Carolina that we let get away a few years ago.) But I am cautiously optimistic and hopeful.
