Well, the final college football polls of the year are out and, surprise, surprise, USC was voted number one in both polls. Auburn got three first place votes in the AP, but they apparently didn't beat Virginia Tech enough to make a serious dent in the USC juggernaut.
That said, I'm pretty annoyed at where the Vols ended up in the final polls. They were 15th in the AP and 13th in the coaches poll. Last time I looked, we throttled our bowl competition--even calling off the dogs in the second half or else we would have blown out Texas A&M 65-7 or worse. Add to it that we beat Georgia, who barely got by Wisconsin. Also, looking ahead to next year, should the Vols get it all together and go on an Auburn-like run we'll end up being on the outside looking in again. The Vols are easily better than Virginia Tech, Michigan and Florida State--all teams that finished above us. Hell, Cal got blown out in their bowl game and they still ended up top ten. I have no idea what these voters are thinking--do they actually watch and think about college football when they vote?
