Well, I was all excited...
I'd heard rumors a couple of months ago about Sam Raimi possibly putting out a deluxe/director's edition of
Spider-Man. (Based on his history of how many editions of
Evil Dead and
Evil Dead 2 are running around out there, it's not hard to believe he wouldn't!). Supposedly this new version would have a re-edit with some new footage, etc. So, I was intrigued by it, but didn't hear much else about it until I saw ads in the paper this weekend for the
Spider-Man Deluxe Edition three-disc set. Could this be it, I wondered?
A LOT of surfing on the Net lead to believe that it's not. It's just the same two-disc set we got two years ago with a third-disc of extras added in there and a reprint of Amazing Fantasy 15. So, nothing really new there.
However, in doing my research, I found out that the original Spidey cartoon from the 60s is
coming out on DVD just in time for the 2nd movie. Now that is kind of exciting. I am considering buying it for Davis and then keeping it for him until he's old enough to appreciate it (he is only seven months old now and his appreciation of Spider-Man is the new teething toy Spidey I found for him yesterday at Wal-Mart). I loved this as a kid, caught a few episodes a couple of years ago on FOX Kids when the first movie hit the theaters and would love a chance to go down memory lane with this set.
