The Hill's Sex Diarist Reveals All (Well, Some)
Jessica Culter, a 24-year old staffer for Sen. Mike DeWine got the axe last week for improper use of a Senate computer during work. Turns out she was blogging. Now, blogging isn't necessarily a bad thing so much as what she was blogging about--namely that she was detailing her various encounters with various men (none named, all identified with initials). Apparently some of them were high-ranking government officials. I first found out about this story on
this link. Her blog was removed, but someone was able to find a copy of it to
reconstruct it here. Now, I can't disagree that she was using the office computers for the wrong reasons, but if they wanted to cover this up, they've done pretty much the opposite. In articles, Ms. Culter says she doesn't want to ruin the lives of those involved, but I wonder if it isn't already too late. Honestly, it seems like a really bad joke gone wrong. I find myself reading through the stories hoping to find the really bad punchline, but I never do. And my first thought was--this is a really elaborate hoax. And maybe it is. Maybe someone, somewhere is having a good laugh at all our expense.
UPDATE: The Calico Cat has set up on on-going blog of information about this story. I know I shouldn't be so intrigued by this story--esp. the fact that she apparently lied about her age and having a degree from Syracuse--but yet I am.
