A couple of weeks before the holidays, my mom teased me that she knew what my sister, her husband, Gracelyn and Davis had got me for my "big" Christmas present from them. She said it was really cool and I'd really like it.
Yeah, try not building that up in your mind.
But then, Christmas morning rolled around and it was time to open the big present. I tore in and it was the
Enterprise kit of MegloBlocks (like Legos). I'd seen it advertised on Amazon a while ago and thought it looked like fun. I think it was on my wish-list at one point. So, I have to admit I was pretty excited about it.
But I couldn't tear into it right away since we still had presents to open and Gracelyn and Davis would want to help me assemble it. Which is fine but the pieces are too small for them to play with yet. So, I had to wait.
I opened it later and looked at the many bags full of MegloBlocks. Then, I dug out the instructions and flipped through them...it was something like 50 pages. I was impressed.
On New Year's Eve eve, I broke down, re-opened the box and started working on the
Enteprise. It was slow, steady work. The
battle bridge and
nacelles were uncomplicated and straight-forward. I will say that I had to redo
several saucer section steps a couple of times, but finally, it all came togehter correctly and I had completed the Enterprise. I have to admit, I think it looks pretty cool. I've got a
slideshow of it over in my FlickR account, if you're interested....
