Well, my wish that the Eagles would derail the Patriots almost came true. But once again, the Patsies win a Super Bowl by three points. (Honestly, how can you call yourself a dynasty if you can't win a big game by more than three points?!? I'm just saying...)
The Eagles had every opportunity in the world to win this one, but they really mis-managed the clock in the last few minutes of the game. What is it with teams from the northeast and not being able to manage the clock?!? First it was the Jets and now the Eagles. Guess Philly will be hiring a clock manager just the like the Jets did.
The commercials were hit or miss for me. Honestly, my favorites were two spots for
24. The first was right at the opening cermonies started with a man in a store following people around with announcer voice. At one point, he goes up to a guy picking out new underwear and says, "It's so intense you'll need another pair!" Then the commercial later about spending $2.4 million to get you to watch and it was worth every penny was kind of cool.
I don't see the point of the McDonald's Lincoln fry commercial. I kept thinking--who is the ad wizard who came up with that one?!? (
SNL reference there to one of the funnier skits from Jerry Seinfeld's episode as host). And can I get a collective, "Hallelujah!" that we only had one ED drug commercial this year.
I will admit the Bud commercial with the soldiers getting the standing ovation in the airport was nice. And the GoDaddy.com and the Tabasco commericals both caught my eye..but not for the products they sold.
After the game, we had the post-Super Bowl episodes of
The Simpsons and a preview of American Dad.
The Simpsons was pretty amusing, though in watching my box sets of earlier seasons, I'll admit it's lost a step or two. And is that really Comic Books Guy's name?!? As for
Amerian Dad, I kept wanting to like it. I wanted it to be funny like Family Guy is. But it just never quite got there. It felt like they were trying too hard. Maybe it will get better without the pressure of being right after the Super Bowl when it begins airing in May. I hope so.
