The Nashville Rhythm
issued an apology to Ashley McElhiney and the Nashville community yesterday for the incident that took place Saturday evening. No word yet on if she could be re-instated as coach of the team or if she's not who the new coach will be. Apparently, practice did not take place yesterday and the ship appears to be ruderless at this time.
My big question is this--will the team play their next game which is scheduled to take place in McElhiney's home town?
This morning's
City Paper has an
interesting editorial about not only the situation but the way the story has been covered.
For every record broken, point scored and game won in the female sports
arena, Anthony pulled women two steps back by acting childishly on court and in
front of the cameras. That she’s a woman in a male dominated sport shouldn’t
mean she has to act differently or better, but, sadly, it does.
Yes, Anthony made a scene. But, by throwing chum into already dangerous
waters, haven’t we just made it bigger?
