Week 13 - Daytime Talk TV
From the tame and elegant setting of Oprah to the wild and crazy brawls of Jerry Springer daytime talk TV has a little bit of everything. They've got make-overs, psychics, paternity suits and things you'd rather not know about but their ratings are through the roof!! Like them or hate them they're part of TV culture.
1. Do you watch daytime talk TV? If so, which shows do you watch? Do you prefer the calm shows like Oprah or the wilder side like Jerry Springer?
I've never really watched daytime talk TV. I did enjoy Talk Soup back when John Henson was hosting where we got clips of the "best" of all the talks shows and they mocked them.
2. Which daytime talk TV show would you like to be on? What would the topic be?
Just because I'm such a big fan of Whose Line Is It Anyway, I'd love to be on Wayne Brady's show. Hopefully on a day when the other three guys stopped by and they did some improv. If I was on, hopefully I'd be peddling my bestselling book.
3. Is there a daytime talk TV show you miss that's no longer on the air? Is there someone you'd like to see get a daytime talk TV show?
Not really as I never have really watched them. Though I did enjoy the episode of Seinfeld where Kramer rescued the Merv Griffin set and put it up in his apartment.
~Bonus~ Before talk TV took over game shows ruled the airways during the day, which do you prefer? Or are you a soap opera fan?
Growing up, being out of school--whether it be for illness, holiday or summer break--meant you got to watch the game shows! I loved The Price is Right and Press Your Luck (Big bucks, big bucks! No Whammy!). There was also a TV version of Scrabble that was kind of fun.
