Surivor: All Stars
That collective sigh of relief you heard last night around 10:04 EST was America being thankful that Boston Rob didn't win a million bucks. Not that the man didn't play the game well--certainly he played it to the hilt, but he also used too many friends as stepping stones on his path to the final two. So, I guess it's only fitting that Amber win the money.
But who among us didn't think that Rob's proposing to Amber wasn't just part of his strategy and the game? Maybe I'm just way to cynical, but it felt like he was saying, "Ya know, I marry her and I get the million bucks either way." I will be intrigued to see if this engagement ever leads to an actual wedding. (My other thought was--well, at least Rob can now say he screwed everyone in the game...oh, but that's just too evil!)
And how pissed was Jeff Probst that Rob asked Amber to marry him before Jeff could smarmily read out the winner? Kind of took some of the drama out of it didn't it? And Jeff's big helicopter ride into New York City?!? Please! Seriously..you have to be kidding. It's not quite as absurd as the wave rider in a couple of seasons ago, but this is just getting old. I'd sort of hoped the big shock would be that Jeff was stepping down as host and instead Shatner was now gonna host Survivor (which would rock since tribal council would take approximately seven hours..."Let me...ask...you...how is life...in...ca..mp?") Of course, Shatner is gonna be busy with his Practice spin-off, so I guess that doesn't leave him too much time for doing this.
As for last episode--Jenna pulled a Rudy, doing a dumbass thing in the final challenge and costing herself a cool million. And let's face it, she takes Rob with her, she wins. I think Satan takes Rob with him, Satan wins the million. And poor Rupert--so close, yet so far. How much you want to be he gets the consolation prize million--and not that the man doesn't deserve it! I mean, I love Rudy, but Rupert just rocks. Can we make it a rule he has to be in EVERY Survivor from now on?
